2-14-10 The Hopewell Hurricanes

The Hopewell Hurricanes 6th grade girls travel team was impressive in their win on Sunday over the Immaculate Conception team from Spotswood beating them by the score of 36-13. The team played great from start to finish jumping out to a 10-0 lead in the first quarter and never looking back. It was an all around team effort, some sharp passing and stellar defense that sparked the Hurricanes led by 12 points from Julia Tobia and 7 points from Elsa Mahle, including a buzzer beater to end the third quarter and put the game out of reach. Also contributing greatly to the win were Victoria Lintott and Stepahine Brix each with 6 points and 9 rebounds, while Sol Ash Garcia had 3 points, Aparna Naik added 2 points and Paige Roell led the team grabbing a game high 11 boards.

The Hopewell Hurricanes 1-29-10

The Hopewell Hurricanes 6th Grade Girls Travel Team split their 2 games this week. In the first game, the team came from behind to win 24-17 over East Brunswick. Led by 6 points each from Elsa Mahle and Stephanie Brix, it took a total team effort to pull the game out. Julia Tobia had 4 points & 6 rebounds, Aidan Cage and Sol Ash Garcia each had 3 points and Emily Ahmad had 2 points. Victoria Lintott and Brix grabbed 7 rebounds each and Aparna Naik played stellar defense.

In the second game, the Hurricanes got off to a slow start and fell just short of their second straight come from behind victory losing 22-20 to Upper Makefield. Julia Tobia led all scorers with 7 points and 5 rebounds. Stephanie Brix also played a strong game with 4 points and 10 rebounds. Elsa Mahle (3pts./3 rebs.), Victoria Lintott (2pts./7 rebs.), Emily Ahmad (2pts./5 rebs.) and Aidan Cage (2pts.) all contributed to the comback. Sol Ash Garcia and Aparna Naik played strong defense
